Methodology
How we build the casino shortlist
A shortlist is only as useful as the method behind it. This page explains how Starburst India evaluates a casino for Indian Starburst players — what we test, the weights we give each criterion, and what disqualifies an operator entirely.
First principles
What a 'good casino for Indian Starburst players' actually means
The shortlist is built for a specific reader: an Indian player who wants to play Starburst, deposit in rupees (UPI by default, USDT for the crypto-comfortable), and withdraw to the same rail without spending a week chasing KYC. That definition is narrower than 'best casino overall' on purpose — a casino that excels at live dealer but offers a stripped Starburst build is the wrong recommendation for this site.
| Criterion | Weight and what we check |
|---|---|
| Licensing | 20% weight. Visible licence number from MGA, UKGC, Curaçao eGaming or Isle of Man. Anything else fails. |
| RNG certification | 10% weight. iTech Labs, eCOGRA or GLI certificate accessible from the casino. Required for any positive coverage. |
| INR payment rails | 20% weight. UPI, Paytm and NetBanking working both ways. Crypto USDT-TRC20 is a bonus point. Card-only operators score badly. |
| Withdrawal speed (post-KYC) | 15% weight. Under 24 hours on UPI is the new standard. Anything slower than 48 hours scores poorly. |
| Starburst presence and RTP build | 10% weight. Starburst live in the lobby, with the 96.09% flagship build confirmed in the info screen. |
| Welcome bonus terms | 10% weight. Wagering under 45x, slot contribution at 100%, max-bet-during-bonus published. Hidden T&Cs score zero. |
| Responsible-gaming tools | 10% weight. Deposit limits, session timers, time-outs and self-exclusion accessible from account settings. |
| Support quality | 5% weight. Live chat available in the evening IST hours, English-language quality acceptable. |
Disqualifying conditions
Failures that block an operator regardless of score
- No verifiable licence. Without external recourse, no other score matters.
- RTP variant hidden. If we cannot confirm the live Starburst RTP build, we cannot recommend the casino.
- UPI deposits accepted but withdrawals routed through bank transfer only. Asymmetric payment rails are a wagering trap.
- Self-exclusion absent. A licensed casino must offer working self-exclusion. Its absence is a deal-breaker.
- Indian player exclusions on the welcome bonus. If the headline offer is country-restricted in the small print, the operator is not on this shortlist.
- History of stalling withdrawals. Confirmed via independent mediation logs at AskGamblers, CasinoMeister or the relevant licensing authority.
How we test
The tests behind the scores
- Sign-up and KYC test. We open an account, complete KYC end-to-end, and measure the time from submission to verified status.
- Deposit test. Small deposits across each supported INR rail (UPI, Paytm, NetBanking) plus USDT-TRC20 where available. We measure clearing time and any fees applied.
- Game test. We open Starburst in the lobby and read the info screen to confirm RTP, stake range and feature availability.
- Bonus clearance test. We model the wagering arithmetic against a representative bankroll to confirm a realistic clearance path exists.
- Withdrawal test. Small withdrawals across each available rail. We measure clearing time post-KYC and document any friction.
- Support test. A factual question to live chat during peak IST hours, and a written ticket. We rate response speed and accuracy.

How often the shortlist changes
The shortlist is reviewed every quarter, and updated immediately when a material change is reported — a licence move, a payment-rail change, a welcome bonus restructure or a new Indian state-level legal position. Casinos that drop below the disqualifying-condition threshold are removed without notice; casinos that climb back above it can be reinstated after a clean test cycle.
